Glenelg Spring Water Inc
Service types:
Description
In our beautiful and fertile Grenadian rainforest amidst lush vegetation, a natural spring rises from the rock on the Eboniza Estate in the parish of St. Patrick. This is a story of one man, his vision and Glenelg Spring Water. Some thirty years ago, the late Dr Ethelstan Friday stumbled upon a pure spring gushing from a rock-face on a steep embankment. This discovery marked the beginning of his mobilisation of a community to manufacture a bottled water that would go on to be the people’s water of choice.
Production started in 1994, while access to the source was still challenging, the willpower and determination of the team were far more significant. Back then, water from the source was transported from the spring to the lab by sliding down the mountainside using ropes. The team would trek to the source from sunrise, making several trips up and down a steep hillside to bottle Glenelg Spring Water for the next day’s delivery.
As the demand for Glenelg Spring Water grew, Dr Friday brought the community together to manufacture a product as good as, if not better than, bottled water imported into Grenada. Dr Friday intended to employ one person from each household in the village, and today Glenelg boasts a workforce of dedicated employees and their families who have shown a commitment to the company for many years.
Over time, operations outgrew the location on Eboniza Estate, and Dr Friday purchased land from neighbouring farms to build a new plant at Mt. Reuil. Moving to the new facility was a giant step, but the new location allowed for the installation of a rigid and continuous polypropylene line which improved the efficiency of the operations.
Although Glenelg Spring Water has grown substantially, it remains a cottage industry very much during the manufacturing process in a fully equipped laboratory with well-trained quality control staff. Through rainy and dry seasons and over the decades since its inception, the water, unadulterated by chemicals has continued to flow unabated from the hidden cliff-side to share with customers a high-quality product that is unmatched for the purity of taste and proudly produced in Grenada.
Glenelg has earned its place as a reliable supplier of a quality product in the domestic market and is continually in the process of developing and expanding production to a level where it can become a competitive and dependable supplier in the regional and international market.
