The Post Office commercialization process commenced on January 24, 1997. At that time all Policy-making
decisions were passed to a seven-member Board of Directors.
Prior to January 24, 1997
All major decisions were made by the Ministry of Communications and Works.
Annual expenditures were part of Grenada's National Budget.
Traditional revenue streams then were:
Stamp sales
Express Mail
Registered Mail
Parcels and Packets
Commissions on Postal and Money Orders
Private Letterboxes
Philately
According to the Act establishing the Grenada Postal Corporation, the Corporation:
Has exclusive right to provide postal services throughout Grenada.
May provide limited banking services.
Has the exclusive right to permit and sell stamps in Grenada.
Has the exclusive right to rent or lease post boxes.
